BIG PICTURE
I am a seasoned mental health therapist with over 20 years' experience. I work primarily with those seeking help for grief and loss, anxiety & depression, and/or the impacts of trauma. I believe that many of what have traditionally been labeled "symptoms" or "disorders" are actually strategies for coping with adversity. I see my clients as resilient, resourceful and creative human beings, and I am deeply committed to creating a trauma-informed environment in which they feel safe, understood and valued. People from diverse backgrounds share that they appreciate the warmth and skill that I bring to our work together.
BACKGROUND AND APPROACH
I grew up in a bicultural family of Basque descent, earned a B.A. in English and a Masters in Social Work, and have previous professional experience as a classroom teacher and university study abroad program administrator. Over the past two decades, I have worked as a mental health therapist on community mental health, primary care and Intensive Outpatient Program teams, and I manage my own private practice. Drawing from training and experience in a range of therapeutic approaches (IFS - Level 1, ACT, DBT, MBSR), I collaborate with clients to tailor therapy to their particular needs, preferences and goals. Together, we work towards actualizing what they most desire for their relationship with themselves and others and for their future.
SOCIAL JUSTICE WORK
Social justice values are near and dear to my heart. Over the course of my career, I have actively advocated for mental health parity within large healthcare organizations. All trauma survivors in need of mental health services deserve access to evidence-based, trauma-focused therapies. Like-minded colleagues and I developed The Complex Trauma Care Pathway (CTCP) as a comprehensive template for making this vision a reality. The CTCP was nominated for the national Voh's Quality Award in 2020, and an article summarizing our outcomes has been published in the peer-reviewed Permanente Journal.
INVITATION
The relationship you have with your therapist is THE most important determinant of therapy outcomes. To explore whether my practice might be a good fit for you, you can email or call to schedule a free fifteen minute introduction by phone. I look forward to talking with you.

Notice to clients and prospective clients:
Under the law, health care providers are required to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask me (and any other provider you choose) for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
